TYD Officers

The Texas Young Democrats held their annual state convention on April 17-19, 2009.  The following individuals compose the 2009-2010 Executive Board:

President: Melanie Aranda (San Antonio)

Melanie is a 2002 graduate of Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio.  She started her college years at Texas Tech University, assisting in the foundation of Texas Tech College Democrats, and finishing her BA in Political Science at Texas State University - San Marcos where she was an active member of the Texas State College Democrats and served as the Secretary of the Texas College Democrats.  Melanie went on to work for Obama for America for two years in Youth Vote working in New Mexico’s South Valley (Las Cruces to Silver City) utilizing her work ethic that Texas Democrats know best.  Melanie came back to Texas determined to turn Texas Blue and educate the youth of Texas by becoming an educator in the San Antonio area.  She is currently serving as the Female Vice-Chair of the Young Democrats of America Labor Caucus. She is the Deputy Chair for the Bexar County Democratic Party and sits on the SDEC of the Texas Democratic Party.  On her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family on her ranch.

Secretary: Jace Reeder (Denton)

Jace Reeder was born in Fort Worth, Texas.  He has a B.A. in Psychology and an M.P.A. from the University of North Texas.   Jace has been active with the Democratic Party since 2000.  He was active with the College Democrats of North Texas for six years, serving as an officer for four of those years. Jace was the Executive Director for the Denton County Democratic Party from 2005-2009.  Before serving as Secretary for the TYD, he was the Regional Director Chair and before that the Region 4 Director.  Jace has also served as chair of the Credentials Committee for the TYD. 

 

The Texas Young Democrats are a registered Political Action Committee (PAC) whose purpose it to lobby on behalf of Texas youth for Democratic Issues.
