Membership requirements
- Although
you may place a membership fee for your organization, TYD does not have
membership dues per member or charting fees.
- The
age requirement for each members is no less than 14 but no greater than or
equal to 40.
- There
are different type of categories of state membership in Section 202 of the
TYD Constitution that you should become familiar, we will only discuss
Regular and Secondary:
- Regular member: this member is in an affiliated organization and used for the organization delegation count during the state convention. Each member can only determined that they are a regular member in only one club.
- Secondary
member: a secondary member is a person who has joined an organization,
yet the person holds regular membership status with another organization.
This person cannot be used in the delegate count at the state convention
if he/she is a secondary member or your club.
- Each member MUST sign an oath of affiliation on your membership forms, regardless of regular or secondary status, in your organization. If they do not, they will not be considered in your organizations delegate count, if they are a regular member.
Going Down the List (From Section 1-102-A and B of
the TYD By-laws)
- Name
of Organization
- Compilation
of a printed or electronic officer roster that must include an addresses,
phone, e-mail, date of election, and date of term expiration
- A
printed or electronic roster of members and contact information including
everything stated above for your officers and date of birth. In this list,
you should also identify regular and secondary members.
- A
copy of the minutes from one previous meeting, and if you are chartering
for the first time, it must be signed by at least 10 members who were
present
- First
time charters must have a copy of their constitution
- At
the end, the President must sign a "President Acknowledgement
Statement" that states the president certifies that "documents
submitted are current, complete, and in every respect accurate"
- IMPORTANT:
COPIES of your club’s membership application that
has an “oath of affiliation” statement filled out by each member. You can
design your own application, but it must contain:
The name and address of person
The date of birth of the applicant
The date of the application
A pledge of loyalty to support the principles of the Democratic party
Their signature.
If you send the originals and request them to be
returned, they will be copied and returned to you at you or your club’s
expense!
Where do I send the credentials packet?
The most efficient way is to send them to the Texas
Democratic Party. One of our TYD executive committee members will check
our mail at the state headquarters. You may also send it to your regional
director to present it at the next TYD executive committee meeting and give it
to the credentials chairman.
