Promoting Your Events

If you are going to go to the trouble of holding a meeting or event, you don’t want to keep it a secret.  Here are some ideas on where to advertise your meetings and events:

  • Ask your local Party office to put the details about your meeting into their weekly/monthly newsletter and post flyers at the office

  • Get permission to set up a table in a high traffic, traditionally Democratic area (such as your town’s LGBT district), and hand out flyers about your meeting

  • Ask local Democratic business owners if you can post a flyer for the meeting in the window of  their establishment

  • Meetup.com, Party Builder, Myspace, Facebook are all excellent ways to get the word out about your meeting

  • Make a witty web commercial for your club and its meeting and post it on YouTube

  • Talk to local leaders of issue-oriented groups, labor unions, and Democratic clubs and ask if you can have a moment to announce your activities or pass out flyers at their next gathering

  • Go out as a group and flyer cars in areas where young people gather to promote your concert or rally
