Austin — The Texas Young Democrats would like to comment on Dr. Eliz Markowitz’s loss against her Republican opponent in Texas’ House District 28. While we are disappointed in tonight’s election result, our resolve to continue turning Texas blue remains unwavering.
“With the same fighting spirit seen in Dr. Markowitz' campaign, we will flip the Texas House, send more Texas Democrats to Washington, and elect a Democratic president with Texas’ thirty-eight electoral votes. Volunteers across the Lone Star State donated their time and resources to an accomplished and exceptional candidate. We look forward to supporting Dr. Markowitz again come this November,” said Texas Young Democrats President Kolby Duhon.
As a candidate, Dr. Eliz Markowitz ran on a platform that would benefit Texas’ most marginalized communities and solve some of our state’s toughest issues, including inadequate health care coverage and a struggling education system.
Her platform, her passion, and her experience are just some of the many reasons we proudly endorsed and supported her campaign.
Tonight’s result does not change our resolve to electing Democratic candidates up and down the ballot in November.
